Car enthusiasts, motoring experts, celebrities, racers, media and fans gathered together to participate in the first leg of the Vios Cup Season 5 held on April 28, 2018 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) in Pampanga. The series of races is partnered with the Philippine Allied Enterprise Corporation (PAEC), the country’s distributor of Bridgestone Tires. For this year’s cup, a total of four (4) legs will be held in different race circuits.

For the season opener, competitors will be driving off their race cars with Bridgestone’s Potenza. Potenza is the tire choice for high-performance cars all over the world. It is specially designed to maintain stability and give excellent performance in handling both wet and dry conditions. Its tread patterns allow better grip and provide the most stable maneuverability, even at high speeds. Aside from delivering a comfortable ride, Potenza is known for its improved durability and longer wear life.

Despite the summer heat, this season was welcomed with both newbies and series regulars ready to battle out for the top spot. The race grids consist of three main categories: Super Sporting Class, Sporting Class and Promotional Class. Each of the races was filled with heart-pounding thrill and excitement. Impressive results come out on the three races for the opening round of the season. For the race 1, the Bridgestone Sporting class race was dominated by DonnVic Portugal of Toyota San Pablo. 2017 Promotional class champion Red Diwa of Toyota Isabela finished second, with Karting Champion John Dizon placing third on his first try in circuit racing. For the Bridgestone Sporting class Race 2, Lord Seno of Toyota Cebu finished first, followed by Victor Buensuceso on second and Team Obenger’s John Dizon placing third. Known for his masterclass driving, Red Diwa of Toyota Isabela claimed the top spot for the Bridgestone Sporting Class race 3. Lord Seno of Toyota Cebu placed second and Gel Napat of Team Biskeg finished third on the race.
